Chase Sapphire Preferred and Airbnb

Hello, I am new to the points cards and have a question. I have recently been approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred with the 50,000 bonus points. I am planning a trip to Disney World and am going to rent a home through Airbnb. Could someone explain to me if this will code as travel and earn the 2 points per dollar spent and if so how do I book to earn this, Do I have to book through Chase travel or can I book directly with Airbnb? Also I assume it will also count toward my spend for the bonus 50,000 points?

Hey!

First of all, welcome to the forum! Yes, Airbnb is considered "travel" under the CSP (Chase Sapphire Preferred) and CSR (Chase Sapphire Reserve) so you will be getting 2x per dollar spent.

You do not have to book directly through Chase's portal, you can book through the Airbnb website and once the transaction goes through coded as travel, you will be getting 2x back.

Yes, you are right, every transaction counts towards the $4k minimum spend for the bonus, it doesn't matter if its through Chase's travel portal or through another website such as Airbnb's website or swipping you card at a store. I actually just got done 2 months ago with my minimum spend for the CSP and got my 50k points once the statement closed.

Keep it in mind that you can also book "things to do" through Chase's portal and get 2x back such as tickets to attractions in Orlando and so on, for that I am not too sure that you can get 2x back if you don't book directly through Chase's travel portal because I don't know if the merchant would code as travel (if that makes any sense).
