In April of this year I applied for a Chase slate card and was denied.
when I got the letter, it gave me their internal scoring credit score not FICO and it was 630
i called 2 days later for a recon and was denied again more so for high uti and some old baddies.
the guy sent me a recon letter explaining denial and it was a FICO TU score 250-900 range so I assume bankcard score.
The score from the recon was 645 Back in April
my TU FICO is 655 and my TU bankcard FICO from merrick bank is 665. I have about 1% uti revolving. I know chase usually pulls EQ and sometimes a double pull.
Would it be a waste of a hard pull to app now?
you are in a very good position with your utilization being at 1% but the baddies might be what is keeping you from approval if anything I would wait 6 months from last application date to apply again but it's your decision whether to wait

Chase pulled EX for me. I'm in NY.
Thanks for the reply! I have been working really hard and keeping uti at 1-3%
I really want a Chase card and REALLY want a Discover IT card.
Last month, BOA unsecured my secured card, removed the annual fee and gave me a 4 times CLI
I do have a lot of inquires on my report. I know I should wait 6 months, it is just so hard lol.
If you do decide to app for the slate again and are approved, then be sure to request the slate with an emv chip! ![]()
I've had a chase slate card for many years with a $22K CL. I was recently wondering why I shouldn't sock-drawer it. Matter of fact I put a $30 charge on it last month just because I haven't used it in years. Are there any perks that I'm missing? Mine has no rebates or any other incentives to use it that Im aware of.

you should be able to get a discover it with those scores, many of my college friends first card was the discover it but it would be better if you waited 6 months from your last app and then apply for the chase and discover together

655 for a Discover IT may not be the best looking score unless it's a student card. I suppose other stats may come into play but I'd wait until your score is a bit higher for Discover. Let some time pass so those inqs don't look like such a red flag. Use your BoA card well and then try again. 6 months is probably a good start.

Chase Slate is a Balance transfer card its basicly should live in a SD 99.9% of its life, If you are interested in rewards you should probably apply for a freedom or CSP card and move as much of the CL from the slate card as desired. Else just let the slate card age with infrequent use to help with AAoA and UTL.
