I was playing around with my credit cards and thought I would like to try a balance transfer. I chose the Slate because I am a Chase customer and according to the score on their page I am at 726. I got the card but it only has a $3,200 limit on it which doesn't help with my BTs. I had thought I would get about 3 times that amount. The card is on it's way to me and I am undecided if I should even activate it. How can this best serve me in building my credit? I really don't plan to use it. Others have mentioned just having one reoccurring payment on a card you rarely use to keep the card from being inactive. Does it matter?
Thanks.
Linda
The Slate card is known for lower starting limits. Do you have another Chase card that you can move some of the credit limit over Slate? You could also just BT a lesser amount than planned to the Slate card as well.
I don't have another Chase card. I am qualified to get all the Chase cards which is in part why I was surpised by the low SL on the slate. I don't really have any balances that it would be helpful to transfer. I just recieved the card today. Perhasps I will call and see if a customer service can be of any help.
I truly don't need or want another cc but I do want to make this work to my advantage!
Good idea. I wonder if
1) I can still get the bonus they are offering
2) If putting some money in a chase savings account would help to have a higher SL
