So about 2-3 weeks ago I applied for a chase slate card for their balance transfer offer. I applied, got the message saying they need more time to look things over, about a week later I got a denial letter. I didn't know about doing a recon call so I never did. Anyways after that I still got prescreened offers in the mail despite being denied. I paid off 1 card and paid down the balance on another card (the one that I want to balance transfer) and got my scores to go up a little.. I got yet another mail offer today. Should I do a recon call about my last application or submit a new application? Sorry if this is the wrong section...
My current scores are: TU - 664 EQ - 673 EX- 668
Always recon first! Good luck!

You should be able to recon for up to 30 days so call and give it a shot.
I apped for the Slate card in April 2013 for the same reason, great BT offer. I got the 7-10 day message and was denied. Denial was for too high revolving line on my Cap One (the one i wanted to BT over of course) and for having a Derog PR (8 YO BK) showing. Chase said to apply again when the BK falls off as they absolutely will not approve with BK showing. No matter 100% on time payments last 7 years of rebuilding, didnt matter. I reconned 3 X, with 3 different Op. I basically wasted an INQ.
Chase is funny, most of the time they want to see that others have given you a higher limit before they give you a higher limit themselves. They dont like to dip their toes in the water until others are swimming so to speak. You have 3 Lines, all under 5K (5K seems to be some kind of magic number), I dont know what your real chances are given the number of accounts and listed limits on your cards, again its Chase. If they dont approve The AA Letter might say something like limited credit file.
If it were me, I'D throw an INQ at one of the BOA cards already Est, ask for a CLI to get you to 5K and age the account 6 months and go from there. Good luck!
Thanks! I think I'll try with the CLI on my oldest BofA card which is the 2300 limit one.
I'd give the recon a shot, Slate is definitely not the hardest card to get approved for.

+1...you already took the HP, so there is nothing to lose and everything to gain. The best of luck to the OP.

The first question on every app I've seen from Chase is "is your credit history free of bankrupcies etc" Did you answer yes or no?
I checked the yes box on the app, have too- cant really be avoided. Even though reason would suggest that question is actually an indication that credit will not be given if you answer yes, i have found that to go either way. My gas card issued by Citi has the same check box on the application. I got the 7-10 message several years back when I apped for that and the card came with an 800CL 2 weeks later.
