There isn't any CU near me or else I would bank there
Love how wherever I travel there is never Chase
I have an local CU that has an few hundred bucks its for emergencies and just want an relationship there in case i need an emergency loan or something to that effect. Since i do most of my banking online i don't feel its necessary to keep an local bank. My main CU is an national one, they are part of coop atm network or something. So i have access to 55,000 different atms around the country or something like that, if i ever need to use one. I rarely carry cash around so i don't need atms that much. Everything goes on my BCP, CSP , or QS. I know that situation isn't like everybody elses situation but it works out for me pretty nicely .
I rarely use ATM's and Cash but seriously I was in Boston 2 years ago and no Chase banks at all so I had no choice other then use my Debit card since I didn't have a credit card at the time.
When I went to Baltimore and Washington DC last year No Chase banks so I had to use my Discover card all the time ... Luckily I did have $200 in cash on me this. Stupid how Chase is what the 2nd largest bank and nowhere where I travel lol
thats funny in my town chase banks are popping up all over the place. My town isn't huge by any stretch, but we have like 5 different chase branches. That is way too much imo. Btw an lot of cu i think reimburse you if you use say an boa or chase atm and get charged with fees. There are just so many better options other than brick and mortar bank imo
As I said I can't find any
I have looked for CU's and i fit none of the criteria to join them. the easiest is the MCU but i need to have a city job for that lol
It depends on how much you need to with your bank in person. The one i have is has only one requirement i think live in my county. Thats about it. If you really don't do any person to person banking then i think an national CU could fit your needs. The only thing about national CU that may be an issue is if you need to deposit cash. I have never had to deposit cash so depositing check via smartphone app is good enough for me. You don't even have to do an national CU , you can do something like ally or cap one , who both have interest checking and savings accounts.
I want a CU for the Credit cards ultimately lol

IMO cu cards are only good for low apr and high CL , those things aren't that important to me so i haven't really looked at their cards. I am more about cash back and travel rewards type of guy for credit cards, since i am just using cards to buy stuff i would buy with cash.

This has definitely changed. I was in Boston and NYC 2-3 weeks ago and there were Chase ATMs everywhere...not that I ever use cash anymore. But they were there. They were everywhere when I lived in Dallas too and they're in every airport.

Well it did used to be called Chase Manhattan before the merger so that might explain all the Chase branches in NY

? I live in Boston. Using the Chase Branch/ATM locator: there are in indeed 10 Chase ATM within 30 miles. However, every single one of them is the airport, and there are no branches at all.
If you saw any outside the airport in Boston, they belonged to a different bank!
And I can't sign up for Chase Checking on the web site, (if I wanted to) because it is unavailable in my area.
@indiolatino61 wrote:Hello all,
I see that Chase is eliminating the 7% yearly bonus on the CSP starting 12/31/2015 because they are, "Eliminating the old to make way for the new." The thing is...the new is not as good as the old. How do the CSP holders feel about this? Thanks as always for your input.
several threads already started about this....
but to answer your question, the real value to me is the transfer of points and 1:1. I have the Freedom and Checking combo too so get some extra points that way. I don't find the 7% dividend a huge loss (for me).
I banked with Washington Mutual forever and LOVED them. When they got screwed over and sold out to Chase it took all of about three months to close my accounts. It just wasn't the same. I still miss WAMU... but now I am loving Chase! They have given me my best cards by far.

As an CCC i like chase, but as far as an place to put my money not so much. I find an lot better alternatives out there, where i don't have to have an few thousand in my bank accounts.
I have two checking accounts. One of them is through the last local community bank in my area and the other is through a local credit union. I split my direct deposit between the two and use the CU for paying bills and my local bank account is for running money. Now that I'm running everything through my cards the split really makes a lot less sense than it used to but I'm just too lazy to change it. I also sortof like having the 2 options available as far as relationship building.

that is very understandable, i do have an local CU in case i need to talk to somebody face to face, but most of my checking account money is in with alliant. The sole reason is for the interest checking they provide, They also offer me 1.99% autoloans every so often so whenever i decide i need to get another car option is there.
