So with the debut soon of Chase Freedom Unlimited and my CSP app next year, I will have the ultimate trifecta. Freedom 5% cats, FU 1.5% and CSP. My question is do I really need IHG as well since I can transfer thru CSP to IHG? Is it redundant to have both? Or is it worth keeping IHG for the free night stay at any property in the world?. Just trying to trim fat where I can.I personally would keep it for the platinum elite status and the free night. Those two benefits alone justify the annual fee of $49.
Yeah after everyone broke it down for me, I totally agree.
I guess I'm late to this thread, but I'll still give my thoughts...
1. IHG points would very rarely be the best use of URs, at least in my experience. Save those for airlines or Hyatt.
2. IHG Platinum Elite usually doesn't mean much (at least at the places I've gone), apart from earning some extra points. Upgrades and club access don't involve the same degree of luxury they would at many premium hotels. Keep in mind that Rewards Club status means nothing at IC properties.
3. I don't know how up-to-date your signature is. I don't see CSP in there, but I do see two 1.5% Visas and one 2%. I'd look there for something to trim.
4. If you travel to major cities, $49 for a room is an absolute steal.

Siggy is up to date. Have not apped CSP yet. Waiting to get out of 5/24 jail. I am combining NFCU Cashrewards into MC and closing it.
I don't have IHG card, but have Chase Hyatt card. I ended up paying the AF for the free night, the status which isn't much and on the hopes that there will be another rebate on redemptions where I could stretch my URs further. It was a tough call and I don't know the card will make the cut next year. So if I was going to definetly use the IHG night and maybe had a few IHG stays during the course of the year I would likely keep it. If I couldn't use the night and had no stays planned then I'd dump it. With the 5/24 rule though you might not be able to get it back in the future which is another factor if your travel patterns change.
If you waiting to get out of 5/24 rule for CSP, how did you get Freedom unlimited?

I ended up just pc'ing my Freedom to FU.
I'm also way over 5/24 but would like to have FU or Freedom. Had anyone had any luck PCing chase co-branded card to Freedom or Freedom Unlimited? I would greately benefit with this card because I have INK Plus and can transfer UR points.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone pc from co-branded to branded with Chase.
