Chase recently upped the limit on my freedom card from 2.2k to 5k, what are the odds of me getting them to change it from a regular visa to a visa signature?
Also what is the communities opinion on the best method of contact for this request?
You can SM or call. If your account is eligible then it will be a smooth process. But I can tell you if you have an account with a 22,99% APR it will be a very difficult mission but not impossible. With persistance Chase gave in on my request but it was not easy Good luck!
Some members on here are not stoked about having to call and deal with CSRs for one reason or another. If that describes you, order a replacement card and see if a Visa Signature comes in the mail. I have seen other banks automatically convert accounts to Signatures when they cross the $5K CL threshold. That would be the most simple way I can see, if the card comes and it is still a platinum you could try to request a conversion. I personally don't mind calling and at times arguing for what I want from the banks, if you are the same just call and ask for what you want. You may find it has already been handled. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Not hard. Just ask them however your card has to be 1 yr old i think with chase because consider it a product change. If i recall your card number will stay the same.
+1
As long as your card is 1 year old, this shouldn't be a problem. They consider it a product change.

Found much success via the Chase SM. The CSRs kept telling me there were no offer for a product upgrade. So... I SM'ed and it was smooth as silk (note account was just over the one year mark and the Apr was 12.99%).
And if you succeed and receive your shiny new Visa Sig, then you will find, uh, almost nothing has changed and you might wonder why you bothered!

Wouldn't it really be something if Chase made all the Visa Sig cards metal?
Don't mind me, I'll just be dreaming in this here corner.

Some people like to feel they are recognized (psychological or whatever). In my case the Chase account existed back to 2005 as a Chase Flexible Rewards Visa and I was dumb enough to believe the answers the CSRs gave me (nothing was ever available for extra benefits or upgrades). Thanks to myfico I got on everything and rode all my card issuers like a horse. Today, I have all Visa Signatures, World Elite and World Mastercards. Do I need them or have I ever used the benefits? NO. I lost a business in 2001 and filed the big BK7 which followed me around well beyond the ten years. It is a recognition to myself that I have rejoined the 800 FICO Score Club which I have and can have the higher tier cards (even though I don't really use the benefits). So it may be more than just having a "Shinny" new Visa Signature. When one has seen the bottom and scratched their way back to the top there is a definite good feeling that comes with obtaining higher tier cards! Life has challenges and many people will experience serious challenges in their lifetime (death of a loved one, medical bills, failed businesses, credit mismanagement and so on). I am way older than many of the younger people on this website who get critical of others but they have not lived long enough to finally run into one of the many unplanned challenges. 9-1-1 and my launching a new governmental consulting firm could not have been worse and I know we are suppose to have a three year plan with emergency funds built into it but governments shut off everything while they got a handle on the event (bills needed to be paid - in my case not enough emergency funds).

OK, but intelligent people should also realize that it is pretty empty "recognition" That you are doing a good job comes from things like credit score, and ease of getting cards, not that a particular label is used on a card. My highest CL Visa is still a Plat, and that's fine. But I realize that there is a school of thought that if there is a higher tier, you should go for it. I disagree as I think it diverts the focus from what matters more, getting genuinely better cards than a Sig/W/WE version of the same old same old!
