It's definitely a YMMV may vary thing, but I've found having a wide range of financial products leads to a better experience with Chase. This isn't to suggest it'll overcome bad credit, but an extended relationship (deposit account, fixed loan, CPC, etc...) will yield better results with their CC portfolio.
Ii keep my banking separate for my credit on the personal side. All my personal banking is done through a credit union.
On the other hand my Commerical banking and credit line have to be the same banking relationship.
Never had.a problem obtaining credit w/o a banking relationship personally.
hmm why wait for an in bank prequal from BoA???
here's a thought, why not take advantage of that 5 yr+ banking relationship with them before closing?!? app for 3 (no annual fee) cards all at the same time/day (going for 1 HP instead of 3) - $200 bonus from the travel card, $200 from a cash reward card (the mlb cash reward recently) and $100/yr bonus from better balance rewards. if you really must close, just close checking and keep savings (keep $300 for no monthly fee) for addt'l $5/qt bonus from bbr for a total of $120/yr. of course, only do it if your profile supports it!!! as always, YMMV!!! but you can always recon and having that 5yr+ banking relationship just might help. meet the requirements/spend and it's an easy $500+ bonus. just a thought! =D

Thanks but I cringe at the sight of my aaoa being destroyed by that. My files short enough as is. Not waiting for an In bank prequal for boa, waiting for a prequal from chase to get around 5/24. If it happens, great, if not, it's only about a year left. I just don't really need boa for anything particular, and I don't really feel like they offer me anything I need
oh i thought you were waiting for BoA prequal. i guess i was confused. lolz. don't mind what i said then. =p
