Chase combining limits

Anyone have any experience combining limits with Chase?  I got a slate card and would like to move most of my limit from my Freedom card over to it to transfer some larger balances.  Anyone have any experience doing this?

Re: Chase combining limits

Yes it is definitely possible.  Most people on here, including myself, have had success in moving/combining limits on their Chase cards.  As far as I know, on some cards Chase allows you to transfer the entire CL to another card whereas on other Chase cards that I have had, I was required to keep a minimum of a $500 limit on that account while transfering the remaining limit to another card of my desire.

AMEX Green Corporate - NPSL | AMEX Everyday - $60,000
Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa Signature - $49,500 | Chase Freedom Visa Signature - $27,300 | USAA Platinum Visa - $26,000

Yes it's possible I've recently done this.  General Cucumbre I was able to transfer the entire limit through EO.

Are you partially trying to transfer the limit or transfer it in its entirety?

Re: Chase combining limits

I just called the CSR on the back of my freedom card and they were able to do it for me. The only thing you need is to have a zero balance on the card you are trying to get rid of. I combined my Chase Freedom and Chase Amazon cards last year.

As of 2017, rebuilding...

I was able to transfer the entire limit on one card to another on one particular occassion.  Then on a separate occasion, I was told that I could only transfer the credit limit minus $500 to another card.  This wasn't that big of a deal to me so I let it go.  I probably could have gotten the entire amount if I had gone through the executive office like you did or ask to speak to a supervisor, etc...but again, I just didn't feel like arguing and I really just wanted to close the card as it was useless to me.  Transfering the credit limit was bonus.

Re: Chase combining limits

Thanks guys, I had forgot to check back on the thread.  I am wanting to transfer almost the whole limit of one card over.  I recently got a Slate with a $4500 limit but it's not enough to transfer what I want. I've also got a Freedom with a $5k limit but a 29% interest rate so to say the least I'm not carrying balances on it.  It currently has a BT on it but that's been transfered to another card.  As soon as it goes through I'll be calling to have them move $4500 over to the Slate if they will do it.  I can then combine all my outstanding CC debt to the Slate.

Re: Chase combining limits

Boomhower,

I wish you luck in getting that debt paid down. I went back to your first post ever where you stated:

"Here is the short of it. We just finished paying off every credit card I have. We buckled down and got it done. Being that we just finished that our savings are $0."

That was less than two years ago. And it looks like you are back in a similar pickle. I don't want to come off as a jerk here because I appreciate your contributions to the forums, and sometime life sneaks up on all of us. I just want to make sure you know that we are here to help, and part of that is holding each other accountable.

Get this stuff taken care of and keep us updated on the progress.

In My Wallet: Amex BCP (12/12) $50,000, Chase Freedom (12/12) $16,500, Cap1 Quicksilver (6/12) $14,000, Barclaycard Rewards (5/13) $10,500, Citi Prestige (4/16) $30,000

Great advice snacktrader. OP carrying balance means reducing your future consumption.
