They do sometimes double pull but I feel like that's an Amex thing if your border (you don't hope for it)
But having chase card already might be the boost you need if it's not maxed!
What's the limit?

It doesn't seem just borderline, at least not in the obvious sense.  They double-pulled me both for Freedom and CSP (several months apart), and gave fairly high CLs and best rate (on the Freedom, as there isn't a range on the CSP)

wiat, 611 EX? that is what chase pulls.

I thought it depended on the state? I have seen people say TU or EQ for Chase, and usually I see people complaining that they double pulled.

Our EX will most surely go up a lot when we pay off our other cards. I don't know how high because of the collection on there. We disputed it with all the bureaus and they were the only ones that didn't remove it, and they actually made it worse because they updated it to look newer then it was.

Our EX is why we didn't consider trying for an AMEX.

Chase pulled TU for me last November.  I wish they would have pulled EX instead, as it was a cleaner report.

Re: Chase discussion

Chase pulled TU and EX for my Freedom

then a few days later pulled EQ for my CSP

fast forward 4mos and they pulled EQ again for my Marriott. I had it frozen and said there was no way to pull one of the other 2 so I had to thaw it for the card.

Learning from my past and rebuilding..

BK discharged 1/10/17
scores: EQ 659 | TU 630 | EX 659

QS 3.8K | WF 500 | Cabela's 3k | ACU 500 |

That high uti plus super low score on EX will seem like it will be a high chance of denial. Chase usually pulls EX plus you dont have a CL close to 5k because even your highest one is being over utilized.

I said that I would be paying the Chase and Cap1 with balances off before we apply. We can't do anything till our mortgage closes.

Chase pulled EQ for me when I got my CSP and Freedom. I was just approved for the Marriott Rewards last night and I haven't seen the inquiry come up anywhere yet....probably tomorrow.

@Anonymous you!  For me 1 card = 4 HP (2 double pulls, 1 @app and 1@verification) ...all subsequent cards double pulls on EX and EQ. I hate Chase for their pulling attitude Smiley Mad

Re: Chase discussion

I know you didn't mention it, but the IHG may be worth looking at. The pointbreaks seem made for you. Every three months or so they come out with a list of 5000 (well 4500 after the 10% rebate) a night hotels. I've seen some very nice properties on the list. Pointbreaks seem ideal for someone who can travel on a whim when someplace great pops up.

+1. I've had similar experiences with Chase. Double-pulled EX and EQ for the four chase cards I app'd for last year. Had banking relationship, an old existing Chase card, high credit scores in the 800's, high reported income and they still double pulled each time.  But all apps approved with generous CL's.

@physicist82 - IMO, most hotel cards are only good for the sign up bonus if you don't frequent those hotels. Because, you also need to consider that the rewards redemption structure changes (devaluations) for these hotel chains occur almost on a yearly basis, therefore rendering the free certificates for the lower categories almost useless for some people.

For example, though I have quite a few free category 1-5 certificates, they're still sitting in my account because I can't find any hotels in those categories at locations where I could use them, which was made worse after the devaluation that Marriott did in March. I ended up closing my Marriott card for that reason and use the Ritz card for the Marriott stay points accumulation.

As far as comparing the Marriott to the Hyatt card sign up bonuses, the Hyatt 2 night bonus is great because you can stay at any Hyatt (including very expensive ones such as Park Hyatt's both domestic and international), no matter what tier and certificates are good for 1 year.  70,000 Marriott points can be useful if you plan on staying 5 nights at category 3 or lower because you get the 5th night free with a four night redemption. Marriott free sign up bonus cert (cat 1-4) are only good for 6 months but you can get an extension by calling Marriott Rewards CS.

Whatever you decide, good luck!
