Chase freedom apr questions

My scores have improved over the last year. I now get prequals for various cards. Not taking anything at the moment, as I have a mortgage application in. In the last couple weeks I must have hit some sort of milestone as the APR on my freedom prequals dropped from 22.xx to 19.xx. Once I get the house I will be getting at least one to two new cards and eliminating a couple of my silly cards that have gotten me here. Just wondering how low the freedom card can go. Not that I ever really carry a balance, but a low rate is nice to have for just in case. I will have some larger purchases coming up obviously and have large savings to pay them down during 0 interest periods. (Have 1.5x annual income in savings after what getting into the house will cost upfront).

Apr is not terribly relevant to me, but all other things being equal lower is obviously better. Anybody care to share what their prequal rate is on freedom or other useful cards for comparison purposes? My spend is not terribly high generally, but I have budgeted somewhere around 20 to 25k for furnishing my house over the next year so I will be spending far above my normal.

Re: Chase freedom apr questions

I'm amazed they lowered your APR - Chase isn't known to do it often, so you must have been special! Congrats! I have their Amazon Visa at 22.9. My hope is with a year or so of responsible usage I can either get them to lower it or simply reapply and get a better APR.

Re: Chase freedom apr questions

I dont have the card, the pre approved offer changed. And my mailbox has started to look like capital one and chase had a street fight. Slate and qs pre quals one day. Freedom and plat pre quals the next. Toss in my roommates citi dc and amex crap and looks like the credit wrestling frederation is having their annual event.

The Freedom card apr are 13.99%, 18.99% and 22.99% depending on your credit .

Re: Chase freedom apr questions

Cool thanks. That is exactly what i was looking for. No sense in waiting once I close then. Dont see myself being in the 13.xx group for a while.Im just shredderizing everything as it comes right now to prevent myself from derailing the mortgage by doing something dumb, but knowing I am at probably my best offer helps.

My Chase Freedom Visa is an Apr of 12.9%. My Chase Flexible Rewards Visa was lowered to 9.9%.

Re: Chase freedom apr questions

I got the Freedom 2 months ago (never a mail, applied at the branch), 0% intro then 22.99%. Just got a mail with an offer for Freedom at 18.99%, I sent a secure message to try to lower the APR and they say no, never, you already have the card. Went to the branch and they told me the same "you can't apply for other Freedom and we can't lower your APR".

This was done the same week I called BofA and lowered my APR from 20.24% to 16.99% with a simple 30 second call. Different lenders different pros/cons.

Re: Chase freedom apr questions

Im not particularly caring about best rate as I have paid exactly 0.00 interest on CCs in my life and guessing getting the 13.99 rate would be several years out...and I would prefer not to wait 4 years to buy my dining room table Smiley Surprised

More just wondering about the tiers they have. Honestly I have the same feelings about chase many have about BOA, but I would not hesitate to use their free money for 15 months when I start furnishing the house. Once that spending happens Chase will probably be kicked to the curb. I know these things shouldnt be personal, but in this case its entirely personal. Smiley LOL

And the worst part is it has nothing to do with banking or credit cards.
