May or may-not affect most users (I think most of us aren't splurging for luxury cars when we rent, but there's a few super rich around here who might).
I was also unaware that the benefit as PRIMARY car insurance was completely unavailable to those with NY addresses, as well.

TL;DR Chase is capping the insurance reimbursement to $60k car value. CSR and Ritz remain unaffected, retaining $75k cap.

Thanks for the heads up! P2 has high level elite status with rental car agencies, so we often wind up with one of the best cars on the lot without paying extra. The $60k cap could very well come into play for us.
The update to the frequentmiler article states this took effect Oct 2024 but they missed it. Judging from the lack of angry complaints here since then, not a big impact for many here (at least those prone to having accidents or other trouble with rentals)
Good heads-up; most people probably won’t be affected unless they rent high-end vehicles; but the NY restriction on primary coverage is definitely something to be aware of. The new $60k cap could matter for premium rentals; while CSR and Ritz holders still have the $75k limit. Always good to double-check card benefits before booking; since terms can change quietly.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks for this. Not hard to exceed 60k these days in the Full Size SUV category if you get a Suburban or Expedition.
Pretty sneaky for Chase to be downgrading this in a low key manner while the cost of cars has only been going up. Saw some pics on Reddit where the Sapphire lounge @ JFK had a sign up saying they're not accepting Chase members for now since Etihad flyers get priority. The whole Sapphire program is losing it's appeal to me, I doubt I'll renew the CSP if it hits 150/yr

Yeah. I linked both articles since FrequentMiler wasn't really highlighting the nerf to NY residents from 10 months ago, which seems important.
Personally, the Ritz is now our primary car rental card, but it's good to keep in mind if I use my new biz CIP which will be affected by the cap.
