Chase is so unpredictable.

My father who's had a collection on his CR from BOA for 5 years, he recently settled on the account, and I told him to wait a month, he then applies for Amex BCE and a chase freedom he was approved instantly for both, 1k CL for Amex and 3k on the freedom. Yesterday night he applies for the chase marriott premier and he was instantly approved for 12k...( father didn't have any other credit card at all since his boa collections)... On the Amex welcome package it stated that his credit score was 624 TU.

Re: Chase is so unpredictable.

Its not always about the score. I'd be curious to know what your father's history looks like...payments, age of history, loans, etc. If he has a thick profile it is possible this will outweigh the FICO score. There are too many unknown factors to give a certain answer but I'm guessing there is more to his approvals than just his score.

Cheers!

Re: Chase is so unpredictable.

I was just surprised because the collections on his CR from boa has been reporting for 5years, he just settled it like 1 months ago. It is still on his credit report till 2017

Re: Chase is so unpredictable.

Yeah, I agree they are kinda unpredictiable as well. Chase gave me $24K in one day when I applied with a 36% UTIL and everyone said I should wait because my CL would be real small if I was approved. Lo and behold! Thank you, weird Chase.

Re: Chase is so unpredictable.

It definitley isn't about the score. I see a number of people here with 700+ scores a few years out of bankruptcy.

also had an unpaid CO from 5 years ago that I recently paid (settled) and was instantly approved for amex, chase and discover. They all pulled EX which is my worst report - last time I checked my EX fico was 651. Now with the pulls & CO settlement my EQ fico is down to 674 from 699.
