I think it's best to wait until end of the year for some of those baddies to fall off,and you should be fine. You dont have a high utilization on your current cards, right?
+1, while Chase has loosened up on their credit criteria, a 614 will almost certainly get you a denial and wasted inquiry. I'd just keep gardening and let those baddies fall off

Well my report is a mixed bag about 4 baddies due to age off by end of this year others mid next year. I have an optima card 18 months never late cap one since January no issues kays card open last year no balance limit was 800 and a Jared card now limit now 2000 balance of 1500 (will pay that off in 6 months) my two auto loans one paid off never late and my current payment never late. My score from myfico is 614.
Very important you get utilization down before you app. That will make a huge difference in both your score and in chase's internal evaluation if you have to recon. A smart play would be to wait for the first group of baddies to age off, while working on deletions for the recent ones and paying down balances. In six months if you have no inquiries, no cards less than a year old, and a good utilization picture, I like your chances.
614 FICO will most definitely get you a denial. I'd wait until your baddies fall off and for your UTL to go down some. Your credit score will significantly change once some of those things happen.
Trust me, you want to have everything at it's best before applying. I was denied 3-5 times until I finally got approved couple days ago for the freedom card at 2k CL. Btw, slate is the entry card.
OP, I agree with other posters that it is best if you wait for your profile to improve, but will also share my experience with Chase. It's a prime example of YMMV:
I apped for Chase Slate around June 4th or 11th. First time ever apping Chase, and after passing their identity verfication process (took two weeks), I was welcomed to the family and granted a low CL of $500.
If you look at my Ficos below you will see they are mostly low 600. EX is 649 after some defaulted school loans fell off this month--but those were still showing when Chase pulled TU and EX to evaluate (maybe EQ, too). In fact, I have 1 charge off showing (est delete 3/2014), 1 open collection (est delete 1/2014) and several defaulted school loans still to fall off next month. And a publixc record showing on my TU only.
I had two revolding accounts in good standing at the time of app: Capital One ($300 CL, 1 year old) and Bank of America ($500, 2 months old, reports as secured).
So you see, YMMV, as I got in the door with a less than ideal credit file. Whenever you decide to app ... Good luck!
