I have 10 new accounts in under a year, and like 4-12 inquiries depending on which bureau, I rarely see a difference when I get a new inquiry. I think that's probably because I've reached some point where adding another doesn't really have a noticeable impact, but personally I don't think inquiries are that THAT big of a deal. I believe my recent denials are more caused by lack of history and new accounts, more-so than the inquiries.
Basically if you already have some inquiries then I don't think another makes much difference, just my opinion though.
If you have negatives being removed soon then I'd definitely wait. Even if approved, the better your profile at the time of applying the better your starting limit will be.
Well to be honest . The only ones approved for the freedom with sub 660 scores are those that have accounts with chase. Checking. Savings direct deposit. As others stated. Even upper 700s denied. It would be in your best interest to wait. Their pre approval is accurate for sure. Although verification is a pita. Best results wait until then. Or minimum until your scores. Over 660.
