Re: Chip Technology Warning!!!

I've been issused chip cards where the chip feels like it slides around in there.  I've also had a varied career including a few years with DHS.  I'll tell you this, where there's a will there's always a way.  Criminals are extremely crafty, share their successes, and are constantly one or two steps ahead.

Re: Chip Technology Warning!!!

The suspicious part of this story is that he said the card was later declined. With a sticker instead of a chip, I would think the machine wouldn't even know there was a card inserted and thus not possible to process the transaction to the point of getting an approval or decline.

Seems like it'd be kinda difficult to make a sticker that looks convincing enough, no?

Can we move to chip and pin yet?

No.... Because this is America..... And we love using inferiror tech

Some banks will probably make it an optional paid add-on because they can. Cat Tongue

Seriously though, we'll likely get tap on our cards again before we do PIN, and that'll only be because the rest of the world will have stopped inserting by then (leaving us with no choice). And even then, it'll probably be one of those things that's never really used domestically. I mean, I barely see anyone using Apple Pay and the like now even at the places that officially support it.

Meh we aren't responsible regardless for charges.. Just a headache whether true or not.. I have some cards where they appears they would come off rather easily then my amex cards which are alot more hefty and dont appear to be going anywhere

Right, in life, there's alwasys *hit to deal with at every turn.  Sometimes, it's an audit.  Sometimes, a car accident.  Sometimes, a freak injury.  And, sometimes, it's fraud and/or ID theft.  Life itsn't about what happens to person, but how he deals with it.  Regarding fraud, I'm not responsible period.  If it happens, I'll go to court if necessary to assert this affirmative defense.

In the meantime, I couldn't care less if we adopt chip, chip & pin, chip & voice, or chip & retina.  Whatever.  Just (1) do not inconvenience me, and (2) do not pass the mantle of fraud responsibility over to consumers.  That's it.

And who cares what the world does?  Since when was the "world" right about anything?  Growing up, "they" wanted my generation to adopt the metric system.  Ah, how's that worked out?  "They" want us to follow soccer more and give up Football?  Are they on crack?  Soccer?  Seriously?!

*tongue in cheek*

That is the thing about dishonesty almost no one gets caught the first time,  and  no one is that bold the first time.  That restaurant has a small network of a-holes working there, I wish you knew someone  could look into it

Well, OP, I'll give you this - you are quite the philosopher.
