So.. pretty much First Tech left since you can't apply for Diners anymore.

A couple of debit card options:

http://www.spotterswiki.com/emv/cardsearch.php?feature%5B%5D=ftf&feature%5B%5D=online_pin&priority=p...

But I wouldn't risk that to be honest (unless only using as a back up for train kiosks or something)

Yeah, if the gig comes through I will probably just get one of the FirstTech cards, see if I can pickup the CSR which is a bit dubious though I could probably simply PC to it as the 100k bonus points while nice will probably get dwarved if I have to pickup the tab directly for 2 weeks + airfare in each location over the next 1.5-2 years from the sounds of it.

Then just use the Amex in China apparently to avoid the DCC issue... what a crock of crap that is.  If I can't sort the CSR may look at upgrading the Amex or run some comparisons of the Arrival with the CSP with that exchange issue.

Bunch of good information in here and in the other thread re: UnionPay, guess shows how much I have to learn tout suite if I land this gig.

Thank you for all your contributions!

I love that my Barclays JetBlue card has Chip + PIN. Already made use of it several times. Wish more US banks would have it.

100k UR is worth a lot of money... and I'm not clear if you can downgrade later and the apply and get it (I presume yes, since the wording is about the bonus, but you should find out Smiley Happy

Well that would indeed be option A, but given the experiences of people on this forum and how I've skated well past them with Chase I don't know how far my luck will go in that regard TBH.  Having a fallback plan or three costs me little and I try to make those determinations ahead of time so I don't make a decision based on an emotional response... those rarely work out in my favor haha.

Re: Chip + priority PIN, any recent entries?

Pretty sure any USAA card can be converted to CP with a simple phone call and re-issue but, it will default to signature. My Rate Advantage has been used in many countries and PIN'd flawlessly every time with no FTF.  I would rather have a true PIN card for traveling outside of major cities though. I have seen that blank stare into the terminal by too many bar keeps wondering wth is going on with my card when the PIN doesn't work. "Ohh, It says you need to sign?".  Learn the word Pen in as many languages as possible, lol.

A "World Economy" should include our simple payment methods and some seem to be trying to make it at least possible.
