I guess my score is still not that good as i though, any recommendation for a card/bank that will work with that and help rise my score?
(I currently have Capital One secure card with $2,500)
I received a few letters in the past few months with "pre-qualify offers" from capital one, discover, amex and chase (where my personal and business checking acc is at)
Over a year ago i went with that letter to capital one branch and the clerk promise me I will get a real c.card even in low balance but I got denied, I just don't want to keep trying but go somewhere I can get approved...I have no income issues current annual is over 100k.
good, you are in pretty good shape – anything over ~680 is often considered good enough. Over ~750 is excellent but you have more than enough to work with. What is the reason(s) your scores are on the low side and have you addressed everything you can to get it in good shape? Go to cap1s site right now and see if you get a pre-qual - it should not be generic looking; it might have your name or a fixed apr. You can take screen snip of it and post it. Are you military or retired or a member of any credit union? I am thinking c1 is your ticket to the promised land, post what you find please. Oh, I just made a reservation for this place sat, is this you lol
Thanks for the tips! I went to C1 and got "pre-qualify" for:Quicksilver and Venture Cards

lol
Not my place but looks great, should def check it out when in Cali!
whoa! you are making this way too easy - if you can make the spend on the venture do it, the sl will be much higher than the qs. after you make the bonus and after 3 months cli the venture, make sure a pc is an offer then cash out the card and pc it to a qs. done.

oh, forget discovery the pre-qual is worthless - measure 2x cut 1x, you are in with cap1. drinks are on you when you come to ca!
@Anonymous wrote:Those prequalifying offers are from some of the eastiest banks except for Chase. If I was in your shoes I would apply for Discover. They are people getting them with a lower credit score then you and have the best customer service of any bank. You get a free credit score and rewards are really good. Once your credit improve, I would PC the Captial One credit card to something better such as quicksilver. My guess Chase would be the hardest credit card to get and I would hold off until your credit score is closer to 700.
With Amex they are the Disneyworld of credit world. They have a really good side and a dark shadow side to them. If you go down this path make sure you never miss a payment and preferable pay full every month (This is probably common sense, this the one bank you do not want to be on your bad side). You probably qualify for the Blue or Everyday cards. The Amex Green is not worth it.
As for regional or another other banks they are going to be very difficult to get.
Thank you for your comment, I definitely consider Discover even with a low limit would help me showing improvement as my currant CC is on 2,500 which is not enough but the max i could deposit with capital one.

assuming you are a guy, DUDE! do not get a discover when you have a solid pq for 2 of the top c1 cards. its not about showing improvements it about getting a high limit. here you go, I was mid 500s in 9/14 and I had a single $ 300 c1 card. read my sig. there you go, now go and post your results

So your'e saying I should apply for C1 Ventur and then change to Quicksilver? Just wanted to confirm ![]()
both offers have a single apr no range and the are a good # so you should get a decent sl with either card. historically the venture will yield a higher sl. if you want a higher limit and can meet the min spend for the bonus that would be what I would do. then cli @ 3 months, cash out and pc to the qs
Got it ! Thanks, will decide between the 2 and give it a shot...

@Strike while the iron is hot. serious. if you can do $3K in 3 months then I would advise doing the venture. I did 300>3300>8300>12300>14300 @ P>QS1>WMC and combined it into a venture I pc'ed into a qs. my venture sl was $ 20K. do the math, its a lot easier starting with a high limit then spending time to cli all the time. just my .02 - answer my other query, are you military of xmil or do you have linkage to the forces?
