On my account for my citi AA plat card it said I owe $45 dollars but when I did a payment for the whole current balance it said I posted a payment of $346 or whatever was my previous current balance which I paid off the day before. I canceled it and now it says I have a -301 balance so they would owe me $300 in theory. I spoke to somebody on the phone because I wanted to change the account access page since the Citi bank one it was tied to was horrible and i preferred the one for credit cards. Long story short the lady on the phone said she could offer me a refund check. I said no and see waht happens since I had some morals and even if i could get away with it I rather not mess with Karma lol. Will this be fixed or some glitch in my favor or something?
Maybe it will, and the Citi Payment Trick will be the new Shopping Cart Trick.
I would be careful. This happened to me once, where they made a mistake and applied a credit to my account that took me to a negative balance. It showed a zero payment required, where my previous balance was a few hundred dollars.
I didn't think anything of it and thought I hit the jackpot, so to speak. I didn't call to verify either as I assumed how could their website be wrong! So, the next week, two days before my payment was due, I checked online again out of curiousity and sure enough, that credit was reversed and it showed a payment due with just two days left!
I called at that point and they said it was indeed a mistake. I barely had a enough time to make a payment without being late and if I didn't check, I would have been late, regardless of their mistake according to the CSR person I spoke with.

Good thing you checked! I was thinking the same sort of thing could happen when I read this thread. My advice would be to push the $45 payment from a bank account so that Citi gets it regardless. That may temporarily have your balance showing -$346 (or I guess anything really given how random this seems to be ), but more than likely it'll work itself out and at least this way you'll definitely have your payment in on time.
Make sure the actual minimum payment is in by the due date.
Banks tend to find money that they have misplaced
On a different note, GAH! Citi just has the worst online system in the credit card industry IMO. I've had numerous problems with it myself, still have to jump through extra hoops to login, and have read about several other people struggling with it in one way or another.
