I waited for my 6th statement to cut and applied online for a CLI. I got a HP (!) and a denial letter saying my account needs to be opened for 6 consecutive months and to call back then. Any thoughts?
First statement wasn't a full month? How soon after you applied did your first statement cut?
Mine was denied for the very same reason. Upon speaking with a CSR, I was informed that you are eligible 6 mos from the date of approval or opening...Sorry to hear that you were denied. If you really won't the CLI, then I would say wait 30 days and try again. I have not as I refuse to give up a hard pull...haven't seen a luv button.
By the way, my statement date and date of approval are different by two weeks...
I think my first statement was only 2 weeks, so that's probably what happened. Do you think if I call them in a few weeks they can do the CLI without a HP?

Yes, they will attempt to do a soft pull initially, but if they can't, they will notify you that a hard pull is required before proceeding...
My rule of thumb is wait at least 7 months from the day you get the card in the mail (round to the end of the month also). CLI do help with getting better/bigger cards, but they have virtually no impact on your credit report unless you have a high UTI; which if you do...you may want to consider credit counseling. Just wait till September 1st, then ask for the CLI. GL on it.
Actually, I would say apply after you have six payment histories, that is on your seventh statement.
Hi guys,
I just thought I would give everybody an update. I contacted customer service via their secure email and asked about my account as it has now been 6 months since my first charge to the card. They said to try again with online CLI request. I thought why not, tried again and got the 'in-review' message. Anyway, 5 minutes later I got an email and they approved my limit increase from $1500 to $6500 so very happy, even with the initial HP!
Congrats! Very nice increase. Did you ask for $6,500?
