Re: Citi CLI Question...

Thank you...I was very shocked to get it ...not even a month ago they declined me and said that because my card was secured I could not get an increase and my card would be evaluated when the CD matures

Re: Citi CLI Question...

They denied my CLI (get this), not once, but twice, even a third time, followed by an unprecedented FOURTH! time consecutively! via SP. Then on a HP APPROVED! all in a span of 2 weeks.

That kind of result is earned Citi my unequivocal Top Spot among all my other cards.

Re: Citi CLI Question...

Does anyone know if Citi pulls from Experian on a CLI for their Home Depot cards too?  Or are they still using Equifax for those?

Yes, an HP was done. SPs are done when the form clearly states that a credit report will not be pulled, but these are only for small increases (<1500) and not always available.

+1

You would know by the language used on the first CLI screen.  One tells you a report is not needed and does not let you name an amount.  The other, which it sounds like you had, gives Citi authorization to pull a report and you enter desired increase amount.

I hate to be so blunt, but this is definitely not true. Last year I assisted DW with both of her Citi card CLIs to take advantage of BT offers. The forms for both cards allowed us to request a specific amount. We clicked the button and received a counter-offer; the page then stated that if we want a higher limit, that they would have to pull your credit. We accepted the counter-offer, and there was no hard pull.

I tried for another CLI a few weeks ago and received the same form, although it had been too recently since her last CLI to be approved.

Re: Citi CLI Question...

Well I'm just speaking from my 5 Citi accounts. The forms recently changed as well. OP, if you got that amount of increase I would be surprised if it was SP.

Re: Citi CLI Question...

Exactly, last year is a different time period and things were different then. It is VERY evident now what the case will be regarding HP vs SP and I love Citi now because of it.

Re: Citi CLI Question...

I think you misunderstand. The form from last year and the form fromm this year are the same for me.

Re: Citi CLI Question...

To be perfectly frank FWIW, i see no other explainable logic in how my own CLI came about in the manner that it did except for that new Citi online form. Or maybe some persistent on my end pressing a point forward affording them a challenge they took some favor in?

At any rate my experience escalated into a very engaging exchange of opinions based from CR facts with perhaps some help to do with their internal details data
I simply pressed forward and Citi made a final decision in the affirmative.
Experian HP in part or as a whole tipped the decision
That much was evident in my case.
