Oh gosh Peas, I wish I would have called them back with a card design!
I was so giddy when the CSR told me I got it, I went into total mind freeze. I guess I'm gonna get the generic one. Oh well.
Even if you find that you have the dorky basic card when it comes, you can always change. They're very cheerful about this, and I think I got mine a week after requesting it. (The Monet
Nymphaeas design.) It almost looks like you can have multiple cards for the same account, if I read it right on the FAQ's site:
I requested a new Discover Card design, what should I do with my current card?
Since your account number will not change, your current card will remain active until the expiration date. Continue using it until the expiration date shown on the card or call us at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) to deactivate the card. You do not need toreturn your current card to us. If you choose not to use your old card, please destroy it.
edit to add: two more cool things about Discover: they report (drop statements) on the same day of the month, every month, even if it's a weekend or holiday. Makes it very simple if you're timing your payments! Also, they will be happy to change your due date to one that fits you better. They would probably be stumped if you asked them to change the statement date, lol, but the due date on DH's card is the day before the next statement date. So if you want to have the statement date on the 5th, so that you can PIF around the 1st, I think that you can ask for a due date on the 4th. Hope that makes sense....
