I applied for a CLI on my Citi DC.
It was denied, is this classed as a soft pull because of it being a denial? I think I asked for WAY too much.
Also would I be able to apply for another lower CLI again straight afterwards to see if that offer is accepted/denied or do I have to wait a certain amount of time before doing so?

You have to watch the wording, it will indicate if it will be a SP or HP, if you ASK the amount, my guess it is a HP as my SP do not have a box to put ASKING amount
If you're eligible for instant CLI the website will tell you upfront of the amount.

Do NOT apply for a CLI unless you see this language indicating it's a soft pull: "A credit report will not be requested and you will receive an instant decision"
If you see this language, you will be wasting a hard pull: "By clicking "Continue" you understand that we will obtain a credit bureau report to evaluate your request. Our credit department will review your request within 24 hours."
Also the good soft pull language will not ask you for a requested amount; the bad language will.
Thanks guys this really helped!
You can always shoot for the moon when you ask for a CLI, they will counter with a lower number if they need to. I requested $25k and got a counter of $15k.

@When you do a SP via the website, it does not ask you how much you "want" for a CLI. So I assume you took a HP and called a CSR - @Anonymous
Yes, took another HP for the CLI. The site flops back and forth on to whether it will be SP or HP. My account was new so it said it would be HP. Got the approval a couple hours later as it seems all Citi HP increases go to an analyst.
