Good evening guys,
I took the leap and applied for the Citi DC tonight. Instant approval, $2600 limit and 12.9% apr. I was a little disappointed with the limit, but the apr was completely surprising. Based on the low apr and success talked about in the DC thread, do you think a recon would result in a higher initial CL? If so, how would I go about doing this?
I've never had to recon so any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex
No guarantees and you will possibly incur another HP...YEMV. It would also depend on how strong your credit profile is at the time of reconsideration.
Congratulations on the approval and low APR. I had a very similar situation when I applied for the Double Cash. I received a 2000 CL but a great initial APR. I was happy about the APR but bummed about the low SL. I can tell you that you don't want to request the CLI via your account website. I did it by those means and received a HP and the reason for the denial was the account was too new. Another member on here called in to activate and said they were able to get their CL raised to 6K (I believe). So if you are going to try, defitiely call and request it. That is what I should have done although ultimately I didn't continue to pursue a CLI because I have other cards that do the heavy lifting and have 5-20 times the credit limit. Good luck!
I took a second HP to go from $1K initial limit to $5K after activation. I asked for $15K and was told that $5K is the max Citi gives to brand new customers.
Good luck.
Upon receiving the card I would call and ask for a CLI - I'd go at least $10k - $15k. You will probably get an EQ hard pull for it.

Whoever told you that was not being truthful.

Didn't believe it mysefl but 5K is sufficient for my spending (and I already hate dealing with citi CS/CA reps). I'll see what I can get for a SP in 5 months
x2. My initial CL with Citi was $8k (as a brand new customer)

You'd most likely incur another HP. Most people are approved for CLIs, but not all (I wasn't). But your APR is good, so they might be more willing in your case. If it's worth another HP, go for it. Some have gone the conventional route (online, phone CSRs), while others have had success through the EO.
