I did a soft pull last week and it said I was denied. I currently have a $7,600 limit and it is by far my most used card. Said I would receive a letter in 10 days with the reason why.

Sounds familiar. Citi has never given me an HP or SP increase on my Citi Double Cash. Called the csr for their explanation and they said I had hit the internal risk limit (based on income, market place total available credit, and Citi credit). What I did do was close the legacy CIti Forward Visa and move the CL to the Citi DC and they did that using the HP that they pulled for the denied CLI I requested. Guess I am done with CLIs with Citi.
Well I doubt increasing my $2600 credit limit will break the bank

Interesting. When I did mine yesterday it didn't say I was denied. It just said we can't give you an answer based off a SP, we will need to HP in order to decide.
OP, what language did you get? Did it actually say denied?

Glad you posted this comment. I had wondered if they would use the same HP from a CLI request to reallocate limits.
I think I may be at their internal limit but before I reallocate I may as well try to get an increase on the card IF they will in fact use same HP.
Nothing go lose, right?
I received an e-mail from Citi today saying that I had a document in the Document Center explaining why I was denied, but there is no such letter in there. =\
I just tried for it again since it was a soft pull and was denied, maybe they will actually put up the letter this time.
Curious if something is glitching, lots of people seem to be seeing the SP verbage for the first time ever and all seem to be denials.
I just checked and though I've used the card once and had it a whopping 50 days I got the SP verbage. Denied of course. I really would use it more but they are my lowest limit....argh.
Just tried because of this thread and got $1900 increase. ! Thanks for the tip!

I don't remember the exact language but it was a definite denial.

Hmmm. Mine just keeps saying:
We regret that we cannot instantly approve your request for a credit limit increase. If you would like our credit department to review your request further, we will need to obtain a credit bureau report. Our credit department will review your request within 24 hours.

I'm going to wait for my FICO score on their site to update; it should be much higher than the score presently listed there.
Then I'll apply again if the soft pull language is still there.
