I have had a Citi Forward since college and want to change it to another Citicard.  Any suggestions?

Many would kill for a chance at that card...myself included Smiley Happy

I'd gladly trade you any of my Citi cards for that one Forward card.

Out of curiosity, before things were gutted, what was the difference between the two versions? What was the deciding factor on whether or not one's version of the card got nerfed?

No substantive difference that I'm aware of. I am guessing College version started with lower limits, but mine has grown over the past two years just fine with no sign of a 'cap'.

Deciding factor in which Foward's got nerfed and which didn't I believe depends on when you applied for it. But I'm not exactly sure what the cutoff date is/was.

From what I recall. the cards were never nerfed for existing users (unlike say my other faves at the time, Cash +, BCP and Penfed Plat Rewards)   Instead, there was a brief period when the Forward was offered as a 1x card (and in non-transferable TYP, so a BAD deal!) and then applications were stopped.   I think the date was early 2013

Re: Citi Forward to What? Suggestions?

You don't have to keep it just to keep it. The Forward is an example of human tendency to glamorize the past. People drool over the card and talk about how great it was, etc. Sure, it was a good card -- but keep in mind, for the majority of redemptions, the "5x" is not 5%. You're looking more at ~2.5 to 3% cash/statement credit for dining, entertainment, etc.

Which is still good yes, but it's not as greatly compelling as some make it sound, especially considering a Double Cash is 2% on everything with no point redemption values to worry about.

The point is yes, it was a nice card, but it's gone, and there are still plenty of good cards. If you already have a Forward and get little use out of the categories/points, then close it or PC it. I believe you can PC it, but your options may be limited and quite obviously, you won't be able to go back to the Forward. But don't hang on to it just because others feel it is useful. Decide if it is useful to you and go from there.

People want what they cannot have; this is a prime example.

Re: Citi Forward to What? Suggestions?

I have a Citi Forward card that I called to PC about a month ago. The CSR told me that the card isn't eligible.

She did give me a SP CLI of 3500 to 9.4k

She also told me that there are a lot of changes coming (she didn't specify) and that I should be able to PC it in December.

I do not have the 5X point version.

But when you pair it with either a premier or prestige, that "~2.5 to 3%" can be turned into 6.25-8% earned on dining, redeemed for travel. Possibly more when you transfer points. That's unbeatable.

Yes, but not everyone is doing that. I was talking about as a standalone card.

Re: Citi Forward to What? Suggestions?

Even without a Prestige (highly recommend) you can still get 1cent/point on any airfare. So even if you fly an itty, bitty teeny bit you can get 5% without any other cards.
