My AAOA is suffering right now. Being around 1.5/2.0 years. My oldest open account is only about 5 yrs old. Just opened 5 accounts in this past year...
Will I benefit from being an authorized user, on my soon to be Mother in laws account?
Citi: Shell gas card. Open since 1974, never late. $0 BL
We have same Address, but different last names. So not even sure it would report or not?
I'm in the process of helping her optimize her Credit profile. I would also be adding my bank, with auto-pay for this account. To insure payments are never late.
I know, that authorized users don't count as much as they use too. But will this help with my age of account's?
I was added to Citi-shell gas card, a few weeks ago. It was opened in 1973. Was hoping it would help my aaoa. And my fingers crossed it would even report. Well on Ex received a balance change $61-$0. I gained 20 points.😆 I know this had to help. Because Ex is my worse report by far. And was stuck at 609 forever.
Hope it gets reported to TU and Eq.... Then I'll be a happy man. Age of accounts has been hurting me!
It work on Ex so far....

It can help in cases where accounts where you're an AU are considered. It won't make any differences in cases where such accounts are not considered. You can do the before and after math to determine the impact to your AAoA. If you have several tradelines of your own you probably won't benefit much from being added as an AU.

You can't rely on a broad, sweeping generalization like that. Creditors and scoring models vary. Again, for situation where such tradelines are considered it will factor in. In cases where they are not it would have no impact.
All I know is Ex was my worst score. And now my fico score went up 20 points. I don't care if it was the Au account or EXP drinking eggnog... Just happy to see a fico 08, 20 point gain.
