Citi Simplicity and convert to Dividend?

I want the Citi Dividend card. However, I have a collection on my CR (only bad) with mid-700 scores. I'm concerned I will get denied, so planning on maybe getting Simplicity to convert to Dividend. thoughts?

Well I've heard that Citi doesn't like to PC TY point cards with cash back cards (and vice versa).

Not entirely sure how they'd like to convert a non-rewards card into one. If you're not carrying a balance and you're talking about the PC with them over the phone, maybe offer that you're willing to accept a higher APR? (assuming your APR on that card is already really low [12.99]). I guess it will depend on your spending history with them too.

FICOs: TU 775 | EQ 784 | EX 773
Amex BCE $15,000 | Discover IT $11,600 | Chase Freedom $7,000 (Visa Sig) | Citi DoubleCash $6,000 (WEMC) | Chase AARP $6,000 | Barclaycard CashForward $4,000 | Barclaycard Rewards $2,000 | Capital One Quicksilver $1,750

So this isn't possible?

Re: Citi Simplicity and convert to Dividend?

Citi is willing to convert my dividend into a forward, but I would loose the saved up cash back.

I just SDed the card in case a good 5% bonus comes around again.

Call the backdoor retention line and see what they can do.

OP, I believe if you want to convert a card, you have to wait til its been open 13 months. I would just apply for the Dividend if that's what you want, or wait til your score goes up some more, though you probably have a decent chance right now.

It's odd, my scores are decent... mid-700s, but I have a collection on each report Smiley Sad
