Trying to help a friend on getting the highest limit possible for a Citi Diamond, he already has a Citi card that he does not uses, should he close it before apping? Does Citi let you combine limits?

He shouldnt close the card b4 applying. And some members reported they have succeeded combining limit by calling Citi EO
Your friend should product change his current citi card to a Citi Diamond. They can do this as long as a card isn't in the zero APR promo period.

The card is 3 yrs old, but will a product change still let him get the 0apr promo?
Unfortunately, no promotional apr he product change.

Since he needs the promo, do you guys think he should close before apping? He actually has 2 citi cards, one with 9k CL and another with 21k CL.
I dont think he should close a card b4 applying. If a recon is needed, he can always ask them to reallocate existing credit line to open the new account and close the one he doesnt need by then
You can PC Citi cards? They told me you gave to apply to get a different card.

I PC'd from DP to DC a few days ago.
i don't think it matters. i had a citi TY prefered for a few years now with a $13,000 limit, but i didn't use it much. i got it just so i would have access to citi ticket pre sales. recently applied for a Citi couble cash back and they approved me for $20,000. and i don't think you can move credit lines that easy with citi card. what they give you is what you get.
