I've heard it said that, when the moons align, the right CSR is on the phone, and you ask with just the right intonality, one can actually acquire a Citi Thank You Preferred card issued on the American Express network.
Alas, I cannot find any information on it other than a brief mention over on Flyertalk and someone claiming they have it in a Google review.
Anyone have this/heard of this/now of a thread somewhere that addresses it?

If you're referring to the Thank You Preferred or Premier AmEx, it is no longer available to PC. Apart from some uniqueness (when Citi used to offer an array of network choices), all current TY Preferred cards are issued as MC/WMC and TY Premier cards as WMC/WEMC. Since Citi is driving toward converting most of their legacy products to MC/WMC/WEMC since last Fall, it is unlikely they would PC your account to the AmEx network.
For now, those who have a variety of previous Citi legacy products (e.g. Dividend, Forward, AAdvantage, Diamond Preferred, TYP, etc.) that were issued as Visa/Visa Signature/AmEx get to keep those networks for some time until Citi standardizes all their cards to MC/WMC/WEMC.
Here's a previous pic of mine that I posted a while back. I also have the AAdvantage AmEx.

I have an AA Amex that shares a CL with an AA Visa. Not quite sure of the advantage of it at the time I got it, I guess now with Fid Amex going, I can try using the Amex to load Serve. Have you done that with the Premier?
