I read through the forums and came to the conclusion that I must call Citi to ensure that a CLI request would be a soft pull as they would be able to tell me before submitting. However, when I called the rep said they could not guarantee that it would be a soft or hard pull and that it was up to the automated system to decide. It sounded like she was filling out the exact same form as was on the website. Has anyone had any experience with Citi CLI's? Currently my credit line is $5410 (weird limit) and I wanted to increase it to an even $6000 or $7000. I charge between $500 - $1000 a month and pay the statement in full. Last time I did the CLI was around last August and I used the online method. It was a soft pull at that time. However, I am refinancing my house soon and want to ensure a hard inquiry is not placed. Thanks.
If you call it is hard. It's always a HP if you call. However, it varies with the online tool. Some people get a SP some get a HP. It's truly hit or miss with Citi.
When I called to do a CLI on my dividend from citi, they were able to tell me if it will be hard or not. As they start the process and you give them your information, they'll warn you before it becomes a hard pull. And this was about last week. Good luck.
They will notify you if its going to be a hard pull.

6 months with Citi.

Maybe I have to call back and speak to another rep to get a more definitive answer. She said that she was not able to determine if it was a soft or hard pull.
Thank you!
