I have two prime cards from Citi. A Diamond Preferred opened in 2010 that I PC'd to a Double Cash, and a Thank You Preferred I opened in 2013. The Thank You card limit has went up several times through auto CLIs and SP CLIs I initiated. I think the original limit on my TYP was $1.5k. It is now at $9k. The Double Cash (formerly Diamond Preferred) has been a totally different story. The original CL on this card was $2k when I opened it. It never had any auto CLIs, and I have only gotten one SP CLI which put it at a $3.6k limit.
I tried another SP CLI last night and got denied. Any idea why the newer card is growing, and the older DC has been pratically stagnant for 6 years? I'm thinking about closing it. Waiting for $20 before you can redeem your cash back is kinda lame.
Citi is a mystery sometimes. On Sunday I tried for a SP CLI and was declined. On Monday, I tried again entering the exact same info and was approved for a $1,200 increase. Just baffles me sometimes how the computer algorithms work at these companies.
You are receiving CLIs with Citi in general, so they are indicating that you have creditworthiness.
I would just make sure that you didn't opt-out of auto CLIs on DC. Otherwise, they are giving you increases, its just not the specific account you want. Maybe consider moving some of the credit lines around?
Citi can combine credit limits now? I thought last time I searched about that on here, it wasn't an option with them. I'll research some more.
