No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
They usually consider check usage as a cash advance and with today's credit climate you maybe asking the banks for a CLD.
If the checks don't say on them that they are 0% if you use them, then I would assume they are not.
Best thing to do would be call the CC's and find out.
I called customer service for Cap 1 and the guy said if I use these checks to transfer the balances, there will be no transaction fee and it will be for 0% until my intro period is over which is in June 09.
The offer when i applied is for 0% purchase only and after that it would be 14.99%. Balance transfer apr is the same for purchases.
Is this too good to be true? I'm a little skeptical because customer service reps sometimes don't know what they're talking about.
Cap 1 sends purchase checks with the statements most of the time for me. The terms state no transaction fees. Just the typical APR as if the card itself was used.
Then in a seperate mailing, there are Purchase checks like above that are RED. Then the BLUE select checks that have a 0% APR for 6 months and a transaction fee of $50 or 3% of the amount, whichever is less. All of this is clearly marked on the checks, so you should be able to read yours to see if they are fee free, standard APR, etc...
