Citi phone call about app?Anyone else have this happen

I applied for a Citibank card last week, didn't get an instant decision. I got the 7-10 days message. Right after I appd I called in due to fraud alert. I thought I would get an instant decision but didn't. She asked me some questions and said I'll be hearing in 7-10 days. Normally when I call in and answer some questions they tell me right away whether I got it or not. I've called the app status line everyday still pending. Received a call from Citi this morning I missed the call so I called back. She wanted to verify some info including phone no. she said she has to call me at that number. That's all she asked for. We hung up and she called me to verify no. that was it, again she said I'll be hearing in 7-10 days if I don't hear from them within a week I'm to call them. WTH? Is all this a good thing or bad? Has anyone else gone thru this process? I find it weird and they drag out the whole process.

This is the reason I will never do business with Citi, I apped early last year and due to the Employer I listed on my app did not match what was listed on my EQ report, they sent me a 4506T Form, and on top of that by signing it I authorize Citi to pull an additional report.

I had my current Employer corrected in 5 days with EQ, and Citi was unwilling to accept anything other than the form to be signed.

My EQ Fico was 777, 1 or 2 inq's, 5 yrs AAoA's, 1% util, if it hadn't been for that mis match I would have been instant approved when I apped online, I know it.

But they were not willing to budge, so I told them to go fly a kite, there's many other CCC's out there that will welcome my business.

Sorry for the rant, I can't make sense of what Citi is doing to you, so I can not say with any certainty, that it looks good or not for you.

Wishing you the Best.

It seems everyone has hoops and issues with at least one creditor at some point. Citi has treated me very well. They have their proverbial heads screwed on backwards sometimes but they have always eventually gotten it right. I've made large charges on my card that I'd be concerned about running through a couple other prime creditors (I think we can all guess one in particular), without worry about it being declined or my account suspended asking for tax returns lol.
As far as approval goes I probably have it easy, long job/residence. Others have had issues with them including 4506-T. So I guess they all have different triggers so YMMV. I do know that CITI verifies specific info on the credit report. For example, I once requested a PC and the rep had to force it through because my EQ report disn't have my home phone number listed. (As if that's a bad thing lol)

I agree. I have had both good and bad experiences with all my creditors (not just CC's) at some point and expect to have the same love/hate relationship with all of them going forward.
