Re: Citi pushing both Double Cash and AAdvantage

I get these in the mail all the time... both for my wife and I... we both have frequent flyer #s with AA so we get them even though we did the opt-out for prescreened offers.

I just shred them since I don't want a card with an AF... or any HP now for that matter... gotta tend my seedling...

EDIT: Just looked on the site... the 60,000 mile offer (doesn't show 65,000 on the website) is for the CitiBusiness card only... the regular Citi AAdvantage card offers 50,000 miles.

There are links for the personal AA Platinum Select to get the 60k available for public. Spending is $3k in 3 months. Not going to post the link since it can be a referral link (not mine).

Apparently recently Citi's system has been rejecting those applications for the personal card through the 60k links. Not sure how accurate that is, but I'll probably be applying for that card in the next week or two.

Not surprising.  Double Cash and AAdvantage are Citi's two most popular cards, and they are the two cards that Citi seems to be focusing on these days.  They also market the Simplicity to those who have high credit card balances for balance transfers.  They seem to be neglecting the whole family of Thank You cards lately.

Daily Carry: PenFed Power Cash • NFCU Flagship • NFCU More Rewards • Chase Freedom
Sock Drawer: PenFed Promise • NFCU cashRewards • Chase Sapphire Preferred • Chase Freedom Unlimited • United Explorer • UNFCU Azure

Apply for the 50k and then let Citi know you saw the 65k offer.  They will match you.  Pretty nice to get 65k miles  and when you redeem them they give you 10 percent bonus.  So it really is 71k miles. As for the annual fee they wave it the first year so if you dont' like annual fees cancel it before the year is up.
