I was denied a CLI from Citibank 60 days ago. It was a soft pull. At the time my account was at 75% utilization. Currently my balance is $0 and my total utilization including all of my revolving accounts is at about 27%. Do you think I have a shot at getting the CLI? Current limit is $5000.
High credit utilization. It's my card with the lowest APR so I tend to carry a balance. Just paid it off today. Wasn't sure if I needed to wait for it to report to CRAs or if I could/should go ahead and request the CLI tomorrow.
I'm really new to Citibank. Can someone tell me the CLI guidelines?
How long must someone wait before requesting a CLI?
Is it a soft or hard pull? (I've seen different answers to this.)
I've had CLI of 3 months in between soft pulls. Latest one was denied --- 5 mos from last CLI. Will try it on the 6th month

6 payment histories (7 months) before requesting another CLI on previous sucessful CLI. When you first have the card you must wait for 7 months.
Usually Citi will counter offer your request if you asked too much. Only when you insisit on higher amount will Citi HP you. Phone based CLI always is HP.
I asked for a CLI online at the 61 day mark for 3000 (initial credit limit 1500) and was approved with a soft pull. On the website when you press the luv button you agree to a hard pull but when I clicked it said I was approved with a soft pull. So I'm guessing it's all a game of luck if it's a soft or hard pull.
CLI twice on my citi using the online form, always took the couter offer and never once hard pull. They always at least six months apart.
