Re: Close Capital One?

How long have you had the card? What kind of sign up bonus did you get?

If it helps, out of $200k in total credit, target won't budge on my $200 limit. And that's my oldest account. I was angry about it for awhile, Finstar probably remembers.

Re: Close Capital One?

I just closed mine. It stemmed from my 500+ scores years back and originally was an Orchard Bank Card. The limit was  a dismal $1150 and the apr in the 24's. Terrible card, also AF of $59.00 I stopped using it a long time ago

TU and EX = 820 EQ = 821

Re: Close Capital One?

I'm going to wait a day or two for the CR to post to my acct , request a check, then call and close it. Muahhahahhahha. Seriously, I'd rather use one of my GECRB co-branded cards than this piece of junk.

Re: Close Capital One?

Why not PC to Quicksilver? To me that'd be more worth it... and just keep it open. But that's just me. I know you have a large total CL and so do most people but a good aged account is just that.. with use on this card, I would assume that they would offer you a better CLI in the future.

If you're set to close it -- no need for opinions though really. Do what makes you happy.

Re: Close Capital One?

I got around to closing mine the first of the month because the annual fee is due (and they won't work with me, either).  I asked them, "You charge an annual fee, for what???"  I had the platinum card that basically offered me nothing.  The have refused to upgrade the card in the past.  The rep hemmed and hawed and I finally cut her off.  'Look, a couple of my cards have annual fees of less than $100, but they provide a ton of travel related services that make the fees more than worth it.  You want me to pay the fee for, I guess the honor of carrying your card--that has my LOWEST limit (much less than $1000), what good are you to me?'

Hilariously, I got a letter in the mail yesterday, two weeks after closing the account, that said I had "earned" a CLI.  A whole $50!  Gimme a friggin' break!

Experian Score: 689--Amex 27 July 2014; Equifax Score 680--MyFICO--17 September 2014; TransUnion Score 718-Discover 20 August 2014--PUH-RAISE JESUS, I finally broke 700!!! Cards and Credit Lines: Escape by Discover, Chase Freedom Signature Visa, Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Signature Visa, Chase Sapphire Preferred Signature Visa, Barclay's Holland America Visa, Citibank Custom Credit Line, Paypal Custom Connect Credit Line, Bloomingdale's, Macy's Premier Elite, Amazon Store Card, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, Discover It, Gold Delta SkyMiles from American Express, PayPal BML.

Oh I remember B335is...LOL.  You're right though, in the grand scheme of things, once you've reached that threshold in exposure, it really doesn't matter much.  If they tease me with a bone, I'll gnaw on it for a bit but then I'll be done...Smiley Very Happy

Well, if it's served its purpose then it's time to move on, so just click YES on the little box...LOL.   Let us know about the funeral arrangements...are you going to place an obituary as well?  Smiley LOL  You know what works best for you so just go with that young.
