I had a small credit binge when I got my job a little over a year ago, and I opened two store cards, AE and Dillards. I've only used them once (for the discount), paid them off, and they are sitting in my dresser drawer. They have very low limits ($250 and $500) on them, so they really aren't contributing much to my util. They are both reported as "Good Standing" with $0 balance.
Is there any way to get them removed from my report entirely if I close them, or do I have to wait the standard 10 yrs for them to drop off. They are both only 1 yr old accounts. I didn't know if there was a version of a GW letter for deleting an account entirely.
I have been paying down my balances over the past few months diligently, but have gained only 4 points with TU and LOST points with EQ. One of the things I'm constantly penalized for is my average age of accounts. It's 2 yrs. If I could get rid of both of these, my average age would be a little more than 4 years.
Has anybody ever done this? Is it even possible?
