I think the decision to keep the store card open is fine.
I do see that more than one of us is saying that there is no reason to close it, which I wouldn't say is true. There are reasons to close and reasons to keep it open.
In general, if there is no compelling reason to keep a store card open, you should plan to close it at some point, because of the possible effect it could have on scoring models that don't like store cards. But there are many good reasons to keep it open: I use it, I like it, it is my oldest card, it helps my utilization a lot, closing it would bring my total number of open cards to less than 5, etc.
