Hey Folks,
I have my American Eagle account and Dell Financial account STILL reporting as "Ok" and as "*" on all 3 bureaus. What the heck? AE was closed 10/2008 and Dell was closed 4/2009.
Should I dispute or leave them be??
Edit: These are showing up in the "closed" section though which is baffling!
Looks OK to me: they're closed, and they're in OK standing. What's the * indicate?
Closed accounts continue to report for 10 years.
The "*" is what EQ uses for OK/On-time payments.
Yes but they are reported with NEW activity...Example...I closed my AE account 10/2008 but it keeps saying "OK" "OK" "OK" since 10/2008 all the way up to last month so far even though it is under "closed".
I disputed an "open" item the other day that has really been closed for over a year. They ended up deleting the entire TL. As HTSU stated, they should stay on your CR for about 10 years. By disputing, you may be risking a deletion and that could really mess with your history.
Starting Score: 648My Dell account is also reporting as open after I closed it in September of this year. Right now it is helping my utilization, so I'm not complaining, but you could try contacting Dell again?
My AE card showed as closed fairly quickly after I called, so that was is more surprising to me.
Yeah but what I'm trying to say is it is not OPEN. It is under CLOSED yet still reporting "OKs" and "*" in the bureaus

Gotcha.
I just pulled up a full Equifax report, and my three closed revolving accounts are doing the same thing. However, my closed AmEx Gold (charge) stopped updating in Feb 09. when I closed it. I don't know if it varies by bank or by card type. Meanwhile, over on my Experian report, it shows the "last reported" date on all four accounts as when they were closed. Perhaps it's another Equifax oddity.
At any rate, I don't think it's hurting you. You're still accumulating clean history, and it does show in the "closed" section.
TU and EQ stoped reporting on 04/08 my BofA account but BofA reports to EX each month. The account is really closed but shows open on me CR.
I wish I could force BofA to update all 3 CRAs since they were nice enough to report the account 120 days late on all 3. Won't help my FICO score but I assume it will cost them a little time or money.
LOL One day after my 120 day late goes 7 years old, they will probably delete the TL. They are that type of company.
