OK, so we have confirmed that this item was sold by some random Marketplace seller, not Amazon. That changes things a bit. I still thought Marketplace orders were able to be returned free of charge but I'm willing to accept that I may be mistaken. I have only had one Marketplace deal go bad and it was resolved without issue nor cost. Perhaps I was lucky. Perhaps it depends on the seller.
If you must place Marketplace orders it wouldn't hurt to check the return policy first on those. Or better yet just stick with things sold by Amazon directly. I wouldn't blame Amazon.com if some random guy in his basement sends you the wrong item. I would however expect them to step up and make things right if the seller would not, and I still think they would if you gave them a chance. It probably would have been better to request a return&refund for wrong item rather than mentioning an exchange.
In your Amazon.com history it should clearly say that you ordered the black one rather than the pink one. Amazon & the seller will both be able to see this too. Did you check this? If the order history says pink then I can certainly see where the seller is coming from.
It was fulfilled by Amazon so sent by Amazon and I was prime, I know others that had some issue before. This post was for my Visa and whether I can keep it. LOL.
There's no need to give the OP a hard time ovr closing amazon, com (even if I asked why!) I
t's not like a cc, OP can open another with no hassle at any time, no HP/SP, nothing. Just losing any order history

That question was already answered.
If you can get your return fee back, why not? Free money.

One rep with Chase said yes it will cause the account to close and other said no it will not. Amazon.com CSR said they will send a feed to Chase to tell them to close the account, I don't want my Chase card to get closed.
I would be very surprised if it closed. I don't remember anything about it being a condition, although I got the card 11 years ago, so fogettting or change is quite possible.
But Amazon isn't the only place the card can be used (of course) so closing it because you closed Amazon.com wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.
But, out of interest, why close amazon.com? It doesn't send anything to me or anything bothersome, just there if I login.
The main reason to get rid of Amazon.com is I'm done with them. I bought a phone case it was sold and forfeited by Amazon, I ordered Black and I got Pink called to have them exchange it out and they told me their was going to be fee to have it exchanged for the return shipping I said it is not my fault I got the wrong one they said I could not do anything I had to pay if I wanted to do the exchange.
Sounds like to me it was one of those Sold by X and Fulfilled By Amazon purchases. Even still that is not like Amazon's customer service at all.
I never paid a fee on a return. I just returned something yesterday with no fee.
I also had several issues with orders in the past but nothing but pleasant customer service. Once I purchased a closet system and within a week the price dropped so I tried if Amazon would adjust and refund..yes they did. Just last week I ordered a folding bike for travel and it came with a missing pedal. I could have returned it for free but it was too much of a hassle so I ordered the spare part from the manufacturer and Amazon did give me a refund of 20% ...that was cool and left me with a nice rebate. So far Amazon has been a really pleasant experience in the US. As for Germany I cannot say the same and therefore cancelled Prime in Germany after a year. If you live in a country that does not have their own Amazon store you have to shop across the border and there are sellers that ship from .fr, .it, .de, .at depending on item and Prime is useless as you would need to pay in each country. Maybe they will ever do a .eu Prime for us. ..😛
