Re: Closed all my Cap1 and HSBC Cards

I'm still keeping my Cap One since it;s my oldest active credit card. I dread the $39 AF with the $1100 CL but i already paid the AF for the year.

Dont want the creditors to see that all my cards are that recent.

I feel the same way about Capital One. It is my oldest credit card (4 years old), it has a decent limit and I don't have to worry about foreign transaction fees. My limit hasn't changed in two years and I don't expect it will ever increase but I'll suck it up and pay the annual fee in light of the presumed benefits of the card.

Re: Closed all my Cap1 and HSBC Cards

I briefly considered keeping my Capital One card open because they don't charge foreign transaction fees.  Then I did the math:  if I spend $1,000 in London (which is average when I visit), I'd save about $30 in transaction fees.  But my annual fee is $49, so I come out $20 in the hole.

There are other cards that charge neither foreign transaction nor annual fees.
