Closed chase card before 12 months...consequences?

I have a CFU for 3 months....opened a few days ago an Amazon Prime card and decided to close the card while adding its entire limit (consolidated limits) to my CFU.....the customer service lady did it instantly like no issue as if it was commonly done.

However, I now realized (did not know before) that closing the chase card before 12 months could potentially not be great?

***How long do you think I will have to wait before I can successfully apply for another chase card?

***Should I worry about my CFU card with the much higher limit now after consolidation of limits....like chance for AA?

***Can I PC this CFU into a CSP in 9 months when it hits 12 months old?

If you earned a SUB, it would get clawed back. Otherwise, I do not expect any issue.

You may avoid closing a card too early in future. If allowed, you possibly could partially re-allocate the CL to the other card and could keep the CFU open with a very low CL such as $500.

Re: Closed chase card before 12 months...consequences?

My recommendation is to keep your cards as long as possible if they carry no annual fees. Closing a card (especially before 12 months) is most likely seen as irresponsible or higher risk (for the future) from a bank's perspective.

For AF cards, you should keep track of the benefits to your spending habits. Once you don't see benefits, you can consider cancelling at your own risk (in the short term, it could hurt your bank relationship, your credit score and credit history).
