I want to cancel my Amex gold card was approved on the Jan 10th last year. I been waiting for them to charge the annual fee as recommended here before canceling the card. As of now they still haven't charged the annual fee. Can I cancel it now since its been over a year or do I wait until the fee post?
I definitely would wait so they dont claw back those MRs. You have 30 days after it posts to get a refund
Edit: realized your other AMEX is a cash back card. Not sure how that works then, but I know they wont like it
They won't claw back the SUB as long as it has been 365 days, but I would still suggest waiting until the annual fee has posted. That typically posts on the last day of your 13th statement period. Once that happens, you have 30 days to cancel, and then hopefully you will get "an offer you can't refuse," a retention offer that is.

Thanks for the info. My statement ends in 7 days. I will wait until then.
I was thinking about picking up this card, but I have never had a charge card with Amex. My question is does Amex charge the $250 fee when you open the account or after the first year? TIA.
Immediately.
