Closing/Combining Amex accounts...input?

I currently have 3 Amex cards, open about 2 year (Delta Gold, Hilton Surpass) and a BCE about a year.

Now I opened the Delta because it got my foot in with AMEX with a $1k SL; the base Hilton I did same day then eventually upgraded to Surpass, same SL). The BCE was done this year for the SUB of 20% off with Amazon purchases.

Now, really, I don't use the Gold that much - it was for in case I want to fly 1st class, Priority boarding, etc - this was pre-Covid mind you...lol...but I get the MOST rewards with my Surpass card for hotel stays/upgrades...and its matched the 20% for Amazon which only last 6month promo, vs points I can use for stays at least for a year or more.

Question is, can I combine th eother two cards into my Hilton and how adverse would it be to my credit score? Or is it even possible?

I'm not looking to close the tradeline if possible; but if nothing can be done, I  am perfectly happy to leave sleeping dogs lie, as they say.

Advice is welcome!

Keep in mind Amex may send you an offer with a nice bonus to upgrade a card to an AF / higher AF version.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Another item to keep in mind OP, if your Delta Gold CL is currently $1K, it's probably at the lowest end of the minimum CL that AmEx would allow for an account CL reallocation.  So, the system will likely reject the request.  Perhaps you can try BCE (if CL is >$1K) into the Hilton CC.

Have you tried any CLIs with Delta Gold and Hilton since you've had the cards?

But, if OP is not planning on traveling in the foreseeable horizon and barely used the card, the next step up is Delta Platinum and I haven't seen any significant SUB [upgrade] offers in sometime (better than a new account SUB promotion) that would offset the $250 AF.  Unless OP feels that Delta Platinum would be suitable once travel resumes to some normalcy or to a level the OP feels comfortable to do so.

This! I believe the lowest is $1k on Gold, and $500 on BCE. Anything else on card can be reallocated.

Re: Closing/Combining Amex accounts...input?

You can't combine accounts per se, but, you can move credit limit between accounts, once per month. You can't take a card below a minimum amount. The minimum for a card with no annual fee is $500. Delta Gold's minimum is probably $1000. You do this by logging into the web site, going to Account Services, Payment & Credit Options. So, you would transfer out any CL above the minimum for that card, then close the card you don't want anymore. Since you've had the cards for two years, this shouldn't upset Amex, but Amex doesn't like it when people close cards too soon after getting a welcome offer, and may react by not giving you welcome offers in the future. I am mentioning mainly for anyone else reading this; I don't think the OP needs to worry about this.

By the way, are you familiar with how Amex handles credit limit increases? You can request one at any time. It's normally a soft pull. If you are denied, you can try again in three months (plus a few days to be safe). If you are approved, you can try again in six months (plus a few days to be safe).

Good luck!
