Closing card question

I had an AA on one of my cards from 5-3k. I'm not mad about it, but since it isn't useful I would like to just close it.

Last months statement was 0.
I charged 1k this month on it and PIF to 0.
If I close it now will it show closed 0 balance or do I need to wait for a statement to cut before I close it to make sure it reflects 0?

Thank you

Re: Closing card question

If it is paid off, it should report 0 balance & closed regardless. "When" depends on the lender. When I closed a Barclay card recently, they reported it closed at 0 balance right away where one of my Cap 1s I closed didn't report until the scheduled statement date for that card.

Re: Closing card question

If the balance is zero when you close it, it will reflect zero on the next report to the bureaus which is the same time at which it will reflect closed. So you're good to close it now.
