Combining Accounts and credit lines with Capital One..

I have the option to combine both of my Quicksilver One accounts into 1 card. I just got a credit line increase on the lower limit card and if combined I will have a $4500 credit line. What does everyone think about doing this? Will this negatively effect my credit report, or is this a good thing? The card I would intend to close was opened in either Feb, or March. The one I would keep open was opened in July 2014, so just over 1 year. I have read on here that closing any credit card is negative for your credit report.

Any advice on this would be appreciated!

Not true. Closing any credit card isn't necessarily a bad thing. If it's AAoA you're worried about, don't fret. The account will remain on your reports for 10 years. The only way you could really be negatively impacted is if the account you close had a balance on it and you fail to pay it, or if the card you're closing had a huge limit and closing it caused your utilization to skyrocket. Plus in your case, why would you want to keep 2 of the same cards that are charging you AFs?
