Recd my Freedom card last week. I BT'd my Slate card to my AMEX EDP card (0%/18mos). Once it posted, zero I called to confirm the balance was zero and if I could combine my limits onto the Freedom card. Rep (Alex) said I would have to wait until I have one cycle with no activity. This includes the small amount of interest that will post in Feb. I asked "Ok, so I can do this in March?" Answer - Maybe - you might have to wait until April. I need to wait almost 4 months doesnt make any sense.
Has anyone else run into this? Should I try calling back?
Thanks

Sorry about the delay in responding, but from what I understand, a Chase card has to be dormant for 30 days at the least if you want to transfer the whole credit line to another card. If you want to do it before the 30 days of dormancy, you can transfer all but 500 of the limit, for example lets say, of a 3,000 limit card, you can move 2,500 to another card. Once the 30 days of dormancy passes you can move all 3,000. Yep, trailing interest can reset the 30 day waiting period.
Thanks Discover! - I think I will do that so the Freedom card's utilization records lower while I wait.
I called Chase and they offered to move all but $500. I had them transfer all but $2k. Not sure why Thanks for the suggestion. Once the statement shows zero, I will close it out,

Thinking if doing the same with my Freedom Unlimited. Moving all 2K limit to the Amazon Prime card and closing the Freedom Unlimited.
Is that all easy? You just call and request to tranfer your limit from one card to another?
For anyone else trying to understand....
Jan statement- shows balance and was BT'd to AMEX
Feb statement- some remaining interest showed as usage
March statement- Time to start counting the full cycle of no use
April statement- Move entire limit
Erick - I am not sure if you can transfer to a store branded card or not. Cant hurt to ask!

Yes. If you prefer, you can also send them a secure message on the Chase website and they'll do it without having to call in. However, you may have to call in order to close the account. You could ask if they'll do it via secure message though.
