I believe you are limited to 2 cards when you have their cards aimed at lower credit individuals. I read somewhere else in the forum that they cap you at 5 cards for good/excellent credit. But folks with their lower tiered cards are limited to 2 cards. Its supposed to be in the fine print of the disclosures for the QS 1 and secured cards. It's possibly in their standard fine print.

Also, why wouldn’t capital one just increase your credit line to save you the trouble of applying for two cards. Sorry new to this. How long do you normally wait before combining the cards? I currently have two cards a secured one (which you can’t combine) and a quicksilver one.
Does it increase your credit line?
Yes, and no. It increases the limit of the card you're transferring to, but it closes the donor card. For example, if you have two Quicksilver cards with $1,000 limits and you combine them, you will have one card with a $2,000 limit when you're done.

Capital One used to be very stingy with CLI's and only very recently started allowing you to combine cards, so that is why you see members with multiple cards.
How long do you wait before combining the cards?
Each person is different. Some people would rather have the two separate trade lines, and some people would rather have one combined limit. I personally am waiting one more week for my (hopeful) 6 month CLI's to kick in, then I will combine them. Additionally, you have several requirements that need to be met before you can even request the accounts be combined, one of those being the accounts are at least 6 months old.
Can you combine QS1 MC limit to QS Visa platinum? or does it have to be mc to mc?
Yep, they don't care if it's MC or Visa. So far the one thing we (think) we've figured out is that Capital One co-branded cards seem to not be eligible (the GM Card, Sony Card, etc.)
Lots of folks have moved/merged across the MC/V brands. My own two cards, one MC and one Visa, show online to be eligible for merging as well.
Thanks, Uncle

That's a bummer about their co-branded cards.....I was hoping to dump(move the limit) the Sony Card.
Also you must have a zero balance on the card you want to transfer

Don't give up completely... so far, there hasn't been anything 'official' ruling out the merging of a co-branded account, it's just that anecdotally folks haven't been able get it to work, and it's assumed that being co-branded is the problem.
As we all know, this could change at any time... and this is one instance where a 'change' would be positive!
So if I have the QS1 & Platinum MC cards, both over 6 months now, does this mean I can't get anymore Cap1 cards period until I combine these & then qualify for another Cap1 card of some type? I was hoping to keep these both for at least a year to get 2x cLI's every 6 months hopefully, then combine them later. I'm trying to catch up to my NFCU $6500 card after combining my 2 Cap1 cards, but am only at $3300 total between the 2 cards so far(just got out of the steps program today on both).
That does help. Thanks!

I spoke to Cap1 EO who advised me you can have up to 5 accounts. It didn't matter if they were starter cards or premium cards. I just got approved (today) for QS Visa. So now I have a total of 3. A secured card, QS1, and QS Visa. Hope this helps.
5 cards total, but only two of those cards can be the sub-prime cards (Platinum, QS1, and Secured). If you were to apply for another QS1 or a platinum card, you would be declined.
