I guess its all relative FinStar. Target is about half the driving distance for me and their card gives 5 percent off. for the items listed the prices are not far apart, so between gas savings at 3 bucks a gallon and the red card 5 percent off any savings would be minimal. Plus starting in january the 3 categories for disco include groceries and i am in that first year double cb period so i can go right across the street to a food market called shoprite and get 10 percent off.
Then for apr/may/june 2022 disco has in store at target double cb, another 3 months groceries at 10 percent off.
As bizarre as it sounds i believe my non use of my 2 comenity cards for about 6 months sparked them to give me a 200 automaticcli on the ikea and give me the rewards mc. the rewards mc came with a letter stating they couldnt give me a lower interest rate because of the same laundry list of issues that basically i received in my 7-10 day denial for the big lots cli.
In my area there is an abundance of retailers, many choices. I guess i let anger get into the mix regarding big lots but now i can shop there with the comenity rewards 1.5 cb and add my vic and big lots rewards and get like 15 percent off.

Yeah I hear ya, but I was never in the military so I can't join Navy Federal, USAA etc. I don't qualify not being in the military. So I just do without. I dont mind save those things for the people who do belong and deserve the benefits
Thanks

If you already have a cb card they probably take it and if you join big lots rewards you get more discounts. you dont need the big lots credit card to get the big lots rewards card. they are different cards, and to your liking they are both orange.
There are a few items that were inexpensive in that store even before the discounts,
instant coffee
as you mentioned laundry detergent
paper plates
deodorizer refills such as airwick
spices, they have a huge assortment of spices for a buck each
I used to go to that store regularly but then i got mad at comenity when they turned me down for a cli so i just paid off the card and never go there.
Never understood that logic, but to each their own.
If you were shopping at BL *before* acquiring the BL credit card, it really isn't the retailer's fault one gets declined for the card or even a CLI, especially if they accept *other* forms of payment. It's not like Comenity Bank owns BL or the prices for goods will go up if you decide to forego using the BL credit card 🤷♂️ And, as pointed out, one doesn't need the BL card to join their loyalty program, like most retailers.
Oh I understand why he did it. When my Lowes card was shut down. I did the same thing. I stopped going to Lowes and went to Home Depot instead. I look at it like this. If a retailer is not careful who they choose to be there face of the business featuring a CC with the retailers name on it then the retailer deserves the loss of business. It is up to the retailer to have a lending CC partner who can support the business. Therefore offer to people with lower credit scores, offer to people with lower incomes etc. The "bank" is the face of the retailer.
I just got a new Lowes credit card (go figure) about a month ago. It is in the portfolio it is not yet carried in my wallet or my personal assistant wallets. We are still just using the Home Depot card. I am sure I will put the Lowes card back into rotation but i am STILL holding a grudge against them.
Thanks
Mark

I understand you're both basing it on your emotional state of mind, but again it wasn't Lowe's that told you go open all those accounts with SYNCB (or other lenders) and have a high exposure with that particular lender. Besides, Lowe's has lending partnerships with several FIs, not just exclusively with SYNCB. So, if an individual despises a particular lender, why turn around and obtain products (again -- go figure) with that particular FI -- makes no logical sense. Of course, I realize this deals more with an individual's psyche than anything but you do you, obviously. Perhaps in about 2 years that "orange" looking card may become reality👍 At the end of the day, aren't they all loans on plastic? So, it's not something you own, the bank owns it.
I'm gonna post about laundry soap in smorgasboard.

I really would like to go poke the bear with the new Lowes card and see what happens just for fun. Do I care if they shut it down? no, as I have no plans of using it again anyway LOL
Thanks
Mark
Well I just checked it on line. There is no request CLI on my account, no button, maybe in the future as it is a new card.
I closed the big lots card today, maybe in feb i will close the ikea card. i really dont use either one. i like this new comenity rewards mastercard,.
the big lots and ikea cards were a couple of my first cards in rebuild, so they did their job.

There's a definite emotional component to this, and while I understand that, I agree with @FinStar as far as not blaming the retailer. Yes, they *chose* Synchrony for that particular card, but they are NOT Synchrony, they're Lowes, and they don't control what Synchrony does or doesn't do. If they wanted to be in the credit-extending business, they'd have their own bank and issue their own cards! Then they'd have complete control over how their cardholders are treated.
Personally, if I've been shopping at StoreX for many years--because I really like it--I'm not going to hold it against THEM if their CC provider closes my account. *shrug*
I have a Comenity Caesars rewards card. I do not have sub-prime credit, make $200k a year. The car is no fee.
I get free rooms at any of the Total Rewards casinos in Atlantic City or Vegas, earn free comp dollars, get VIP check in, Free valet, and by-pass most lines. No problems with my card!
